37w is the stock, but they can be hard to find. 55w is usually what is available from auto parts stores or walmart. as long as you are not running tons of things that draw other amps, these are fine and should not overload the system or the wiring.
I have been doing my home work. Went to the stealer and looked at theirs. Looked at the JP Cycles version that uses a H-3 Bulb. I also took mine out to study them. The factory lamp uses two wires (hot and ground). The H-3 bulb has a single wire hot lead and metal base for a "field style ground".
Did you folks that have installed H-3's use the two wire set up (OE wires)? Or did you ground to the chassis and how did that work out? Working on Japanese cars is my stock in life. Trying to switch a two wire set up on a Toyota to a chassis ground, one wire set up, only blows fuses. Do the replacement units come with instructions on the box top? Do I need my Flash Gordon secret decoder ring? Must I really call my Snap-on guy for another tool?
I know it is not that difficult to figure out but what did YOU do?
the one's from jp cycles comes with just 1 white lead off the bulb. this plugs into the black/white lead that also is connected to the turn signal. the black ground is simply attached to the screw that helps to hold the bulb into the lamp dome. simple. instructions are included.
