I picked up a comfort stitch on e-bay for 200 bucks. I thought it felt funny for a week or two. But I can now go 200 miles without any pain in the rear. Plus I like the way the bars are closer and my legs are more vertical. My wife likes it much better also. It does look ugly though. but who cares I like to ride not gaze at it.
When HD changed the seats on the 08's, they really screwed them up big time. The passenger sections on these seats(99-07) has a good amount of foam in them and could be made better. The 08 seats, the passenger section has very little foam and they changed the foam formula to a softer foam so the passenger bottoms out very fast with them...Now on the 09 seats..OMG!!! Harley screwed the pooch big time. The foam in the back of the SG seats is 3/8" thich at the back where the passenger's tail bone is and to top it off they rivted the rear mounting bracket on and the rivet is sticking up over 3/8" so you know thats gotta hurt. Next time your in a dealership go over to a SG and press down on the passenger seat just in front of the mounting bracket and you will see what I am talking about, its not good.
Google Airhawk and take a look at these. They have them for the driver and passenger seats. They are air cushions that you can easily adjust to your or her liking. My wife each used one on 3 day ride a couple of weeks ago and thought they were great.
We were both on Mustang Vintage seats and the airhawks made a difference.
A friend of mind let me use his AirHawk cushion today for 300 mile ride. It came with his bike when he bought it from the original owner and he never used it. I bought it from him the first time we stopped for gas. No numb butt and it put me in just the right postion to look over the windshield.
I got the Mustang on my 08 Glide, the one where the riders and passengers seat are separate from each other. Most of the time I've just got the single seat on it.
On my 07 Glide I had my old saddlemans (5 yrs old and used on 3 different bikes) it was alot more comfortable but it didn't fit the 08.
The mustang is better than the stock seat for the passenger ( gives them a little more wiggle room) and as good if not better for the driver.
Now what alot of folks in here have done is have their stock seat redone at Mean Cycles and I've heard some got reports on them.
Good luck!
I hate the stock Ultra seat. I got a stock RK seat from eBay for 75 bucks and it is better for me but worse for Mrs O'Lady. So I swap them out when she is with me (rare).
