+1 or +100 on the NO Drinkee, NO Drivee! I ashamed to say it, but I've had my ONEDuI in 1975, and it was ugly. Don't ever want to be there again. It's no fun calling the wife, and telling her you're in lockup for DuI. Most of us have grown up, but we all know those that still feel the need to partake, and then ride to show how macho they are. For your family's sake, as well as your own, please don't. I know this won't change anyone, because it certainly wouldn't change me back in the day. But I sure hope those that do decide to have a belt or two, give it plenty of time, eat a ton of food, and do some walking around for a couple of hours before hopping back on the bike. Ride sober, and safe.
I don't really see any harm in one maybe two beers with a meal would hurt. Myself I just stay away from the booze while riding. Ever since my heart spell I have quite drinking pretty much, along with the smokes. I dip now ..if only I could stop dipping now might squeeze in another year.lol
Like some said..in my heyday 18-30, I would throw down a few and jump on and think I was King Kong. I was one of the lucky ones. Didn't hurt anybody, didn't get hurt. But now I'm 50 and have kids I'm more informed about not only what can happen to me but what can happen to the innocent. In my state of MA, I have a CDL-A with all endorsements. DUI? I could lose everything..not worth it. Hey, have a drink, but leave the ride at home.
I don't wear a helmet and I have been known to have a couple beers then head out on my bike. But you know what, It is MY choice to do so. Nothing is worse than others projecting their believes or thoughts about how MY life should be lived. Personally I don't care what you do with your life as long as it doesn't alter mine. That being said, Ride Safe!
Well, it looks like this is about played out. I started this 65 post ago and I never thought it would stir up this much emotion.
I understand both sides of this, but I will continue to have a beer and a burger once in awhile.
By doing so I have not broken any laws and IMO I am not putting anyone in danger.
I actually feel much more out of sorts with over the counter sinus medication when riding.
Anyway, thanks for all of your post and as you can see none of this will most likely change anyone's view. So what ever side of this you are on, Ride Safe!!
