Default Drinking and Riding

My friends and I usually ride to eat. We pick a destination were we can find a good restaurant eat and have a beer or two and then ride home.

What is your feelings on drinking a beer or two and then ridding?

I always feel like I ride better after a beer or two.

This should probably be in the general forum but....
As long as your not 105 pounds, have dinner and keep it to no more than 2 beers I would think you'ld be okay. Now I'm waiting for a LEO to blow me outta the water.

You do feel better. It is called "under the influence of alcohol". I hate to take the soapbox but drinking even one beer and riding a two wheeled vehicle which requires that you muster all your resources is trouble looking for a place to happen. Please, for your own good, think this one over again.
Again, I would never bring this up with a fellow biker, but you asked.

I probably will get 'blown-out-of-the-water' also...
but I see nothing wrong with a beer or two. Only
you know how you behave after two drinks..so
if you know you get impaired to where you get stupid,
then do not drink.
I think the general 'rule' is one drink per hour is
considered 'safe' to keep you out of trouble.
That is how long it takes your body to metabolize the alcohol. (Food intake and body weight plus other factors can change that rule though)

I have to admit that I have a beer when out on a ride. On long multi day trips the ETOH waits until the end of the day. When I do drink I also eat with it. As a paramedic I know and see the consequences of too much. Know your limits, be smart and remember, you don't do anything better under the influence. You just think you do!!

Two or more in the morning just to slow down the shakes, maybe 4 or more with a good meal. I had a friend who could not ride without a couple of drinks. Lost control of his bike in 2004 and we lost him, one bike crash. I really miss him! I do not drink when riding, the consequences are forever! I ride with friends that do drink a little and ride. Like others they enjoy a drink with meal and wait an hour or two before riding. We all make choices. Good luck.

If you do it, just don't talk about it.. A simple accident or mistake will make you appear that you "must have been drinking" and the law and insurance co will be the first to identify that you were influenced by something other then fresh air.

Of course I also have a beer or two on the road sometimes but have to ask myself why, Do I like the taste of beer or do I want to get the buzz..... or both?!?

Iced tea would surely surfice my thirst but opting for beer seems to be a matter of choice for some reason...

Most of the time, I leave my one or two beers for the backyard deck parties leaving my head as clear as possible for bike riding... but there are times..

+1 About 40 years ago, when I was Made of Steel (or so I thought). I could handle My Beer, and No one could tell me any differently. After 6 months in the hospital (tree jumped out in front of Me), I saw the light. Riding and drinking Dont mix.
