Check out Dakota Digital. They sell a unit for around $120 to zero in your speedo. On your year bike, it has to be spliced into the circuit. Earlier models, '06 and before, I believe it plugs right in.

Kuryyakin also has one.

Here's the link. For some reason, it's under automotive, not motorcycle

You are not alone, this is true of most years. It does make the gas mileage look better. I guess that also means we are putting more miles on the bikes than what is real too.

The last bike I owned with an accurate speedometer was my 1970 Bonneville. Most manuafacturers build in a very large positive factor. BMWs are among the worse. My Ultra registers 104 miles for every 100 mile markers.

Widely reported on any new bike test in MCNews. Gold Wings are as much as 10% off.

Here's a chart you can use to check yours. These are handed out by the Minnesota State Patrol.

Set your bike on cruise, at an indicated 60 mph, and using a stop watch, check the time it takes to go between mile markers. Do it in several differenct locations, as the mile markers could also be off, although nowdays they are also installed using GPS.

No GPS is 100% accurate (that is civilian GPS's). There is an error built into them from the satellites. If they were 100% they would sell like hot cakes to terrorists for missiles.
