Ok heres the deal. I did the bar swap along with chrome controls. I getting ready to put it back together and I screw up the ignition switch reinstall...can't get it back in....so I come the trusted hd forum and find the screwdriver trick and reinstall the ignition switch. Now I go to test everything before I button it up. When I turn on the switch, I get power to the radio, lights work, brake lights, horn. But no turn signals, no power to the fuel pump. I noticed there was no whine imediately when I hit the swich. Hit the start switch...nothing. I checked for pinched wires in the controls....no broken wires. Also the fork lock doesnt work now. Could my problem be in the switch? I turned some stuff around in there a good bit before I got it to go back together. I'm am stumped...please help!
Have you tried starting with the kill switch in the on and off positions, in case it got screwed up, when you rewired?
Tom
Yes, I have, but I notice that it feels different. I put on chrome switch caps too. Guess I can take it off and see if I can tell why it feels harder to push than before.
Did you run the wires thru the bars? Im confused, you say you "had to turn some things around before you got the ignition back together"? It sounds like a wire problem but then the fork lock doesnt work??? Did you have to struggle to get the ignition off with the screw driver? Nothing worse than doin all that work and somethings not right...Sorry man I feel your pain!!!
Well, I don't think it can be the switch. The fork lock is now working. I lifted the tank to connect throttle cables. You think I could have pulled something loose?
Did you run the wires thru the bars? Are both blinkers not working? Did you check fuses, maybe you blew a fuse or two? Lifting the tank shouldnt of done anything. I lifted mine as well and didnt have a problem??? I just remember how hard it was to get the wires thru my bars..I really thought I might pull some of the wires apart. Needless to say I was very happy when I got done and everything worked.
