The riding season in New England this year was kinda crapy, lots of rain and never really felt like summer. September was the best month and made more trips to Misquamicut Beach in September than any month. My 06 883C and my friend's 08 FatBob didn't get nearly as many miles as we had planned..........
So our idea was to get on a plane in like January or Febuary and fly out west somewhere, rent a couple of bikes and ride for three days. Problem is, neither of us know jack squat about the west coast, where is a good place to ride that time of year? We were thinking New Mexico, Nevada, California? Where the hell should we go? Where is good riding in January/Febuary? Any advice would be great.
I would try San Diego. You can fly in there, rent bikes, and ride on the Cali coast. Three days is shaving it thin--you probably won't want to leave--but the weather is going to be about the mildest.

Thank you for the reply, I would spend the entire winter somewhere other than here (Connecticut) if I could.......who knows, may never come back home. If the weather is "mild" it will probably feel damn warm to me........keep the posts coming!
I'd say come to Florida, but we only have "our" state in the winter that stays nice. You can travel all over Florida in the winter and have good weather, but when you have seen it all here, you have to move north and it's cold there..
Southern California, the desert Southwest, south Texas or southern Florida are your best bets for warm temps in the middle of Winter. When I was driving coast to coast, the Phoenix area was one of my favorite winter layover destinations. It's a little pricey, but those 60-80 degree days in January made it worth the $$$$ and the people as a general rule were MUCH nicer than some of the other points mentioned.
Too much traffic in SanDiego area for my taste. Hit Vegas, cheap hotels, great food, good entertainment, and within 30 minutes you're out on the desert with some great rides. Good deals to be had flying there too. There's some very nice riding, and Arizona is just a hop, skip, and jump away. Enjoy. Good idea BTW>
Try Henderson, Nevada. Vegas strip is only 20-30 mins away. there is a local dealer with rentals.
St George, Utah & Zion national park are only about 1 1/2 hours away - some awesome riding there. Also a dealer in St George
Oh yeah weather is usually great
