Hi Everyone,
One of the members here asked me about this and I had to
do another one for my Wife's Dyna so this time I took
pictures of each step. It takes the new rear HD Run/Brake/Turn
module and turns it into the old version of Brake/Turn only.
That is an outstanding mod to an accessory that the MoCo should never have changed in the first place. I had the original brake/turn module. Then the MoCo replaced it with the newer version that added the running light feature. So I bought that one and sold my original module. After installing the newer module I realized that the difference in brightness between the running feature and the brake feature was barely noticable. You could barely tell that it went from running to brake. Another MoCo POS. I took it off and searched all over until I found a dealer that still had one of the old style modules. Got it and have had it installed for about 2 years now. I definately much prefer the turn signals going from off to bright red when I apply the brakes. It is much more eye catching. Nice work on the photo process.
awesome description of each step that is really really helpful! Thanks for taking the time to do that, maybe I will do that this winter... I'm sure it only takes a minute or two, but I will have to try it!
Wow thanks for the detailed instructions! I could even accomplish this task following your instructions...
I agree with everyone that I wish the brake function intensity of the turn signals were brighter, but am not sure I want the run light functionality off. The increased visibility at night was the main reason I got the module. I wanted to make sure cages coming up behind me could see me. Is there any way to increase the intensity of the turn signals when the brake is applied???
just finished it up. took about 20 mins, taking my time and soldering connections, shrink wrap, etc. my only problem was i couldn't find my roll of electrical tape so i had to use zip ties to hold the wiring together.....
motown, i was thinking the same thing as you about the nighttime visibility, but then i figured that if the cager was close enough to do me any damage, then if he didn't see the taillight, then the extra running lights wouldn't help much either. i figured that if i were that worried about it, i could always flash the brakelights...
I was in a pack of six bikes running in a early morning fog, the
only bikes visible was the bikes with the running lights.
The stock taillight could not be seen.
The additional night light is a plus.
In the day, having two Friends rear ended, both with red turn/brake lights
it doesn't change the visibility much.
