Default LH passenger foot board bolt brakes off

and the wife falls hard! she now has broken rist. the extended passenger foot board has too much leverage for the single allen bolt mount. everyone with these are at risk!

Was it a Kuryaken part, or a Harley part? The Kury stuff is notoriously known for cheap crap.

My dealer went to great lengths to explain the necessity for using grade 8 bolts for things like this.I never gave a second thought to looking and making sure that's what I had, but I will now.
Hope your wife gets well soon.

Someone's sig says something like 98% of Harley problems are self inflicted.
This may be a good example.

IMHO that should be a grade eight bolt right from the factory. What if it would have busted while your were riding down the road at 70 MPH?

Even though my GF is only about 100 LBS and I think everything should hold just fine, I am planning on replacing both of them with grade-8 ASAP.

I had heard about this before. It seems that the Kury extended boards overload the OEM bolts, resulting in a failure.

would have been a lot worse the foot board landed under the bike right in line with the rear tire
