Talking How will this look?

I know that this is totally my decision - but with that said i am looking for other opinions. I have a black cherry sg & have found a really good buy on a set of vivid black lowers. The lowers have to be shipped so i can't hold them in place to see how they will look. In my head i think it would accent the sg nicely. Any costructive thoughts would be appreciated - thanks

Buy them. I think they will look okay and if they don't and you got a great deal, it would be really easy to paint them to match your bike!

Don't ask me !

I'm one of those SG purists against adding driving lights, lowers and tour packs.

If the lowers are for function vs. style and you need them to keep warm in the colder months than yeah go for it.

But since you asked my opinion here it is: The SG is a bare bones bike. Minimalistic. No fancy doodads you'd find on another model. Keep it simple.

Just my humble opinion and only offered since you asked.

Other opinions and mileage will most certainly vary.

If the price is right then buy 'em, install 'em & see if you like the look.
IMHO they are going to look like black lowers on a black cherry bike, in other words like a "dikc on a fish" but as we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Bottom line is that if the cost of the lowers you've found plus the cost of repaint is less than the cost of prepainted ones to match then go for it!

If you haven't already you can go through the pics at https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-model-pictures/22800-the-official-streetglide-picture-thread.html

There are more than a few SG's with lowers on them pictured.

It'll look terrible!! Tell me where they are, and I'll get them. Then you can get the nice black cherry ones to match your bike. LoL Seriously, the mix and match color thing is not a good idea in most cases. Like said earlier though, if it's just for some cold weather riding, maybe it'll provide the protection you need...

With black wheels, tires, engine, seat, etc., black fairing lowers won't look totally out of place. And black "goes with everything." At least that's what my ex-wife used to tell me.

As for the "deal," you can buy new vented, vivid black lowers from Zanotti's for about $520 delivered; unvented even less.

Get them cheap and have them painted OR get a set of soft lowers. Have a set of the soft lowers I use on really cold days, help as much as the lowers on the Ultra I had before.

Are we talking lower fairings or lower forks? I have seen both a white and a pewter bike with black lower forks and was surprised how well they looked. Of course, they had other black items too like saddle bag guards, bars, levers and mirrors to finish it out.

I don't think I would go with black lower fairings but thats my .02 worth
