Alternatives to all the stabilizers.....
I have seen replacement swing arm bushing kits advertised for our touring bikes. They are hard nylon or neoprene. Are these any better at taming the dreaded wobble than a stabilizer? Has anyone had these installed?

They are better as they solid mount the rear swingarm and reduce way more slop between the frame and the suspension, HOWEVER, this method allows for a lot more engine vibration through to the bike, which is why HD went with the rubber mount swingarm.

Anyone in doubt of what a stabilizer does should see if you can bum a ride on a bike that has one,the 09's haven't got a thing on a bike with a stabilizer on it.Didn't seem like my bike was that loose but man what a change!

From what i have seen the 02 and newer models have a stiffer bushing in the swingarm. I have a missing link kit on the way for mine. Installed a Glide-Pro kit in the spring when I repainted my bike and it seemed to help at first but after 3000 miles it seems to be worse than before. I went with the TWR kit because it looks like the better location for the link and no way possible to have ground clearance issues. Plus for my 01 it was quite a bit cheaper.

There has been much talk of the rear end wobble on this forum and I have only noticed it a few times on mine at slow speeds ( 30MPH or less). It felt like someone pushing on the side of the saddlebags either left or right. It felt werd. Funny thing is I have never felt it at high speeds and I've got 60,000 on my scoot.

On smooth roads in the South I never got any wobble but with the bumps in the Roads up hear in Pa it does upset the bike and I get some wobble when powering through a high speed curve.

I have felt it many times but if you know it you know when to back off,no big deal really,but man what a difference with a stabilizer,feels like a sport bike.
