How Much Winter Riding ...

... is needed to avoid winterization? I live in Niagara County, NY, a cold northern climate. I know there will be few opportunities to ride through the winter months. My bike is stored in an attached garage, I keep the battery tender on and have added Sta-Bil to the tank. So, If I do a 25 mile ride once or twice a month will that be enough to avoid winterization?

im from Montreal - i do same - if above 0c- i go for a ride .. as long as no snow or sand on the roads.. make sure bike at least gets to operating temp for at least 30min meaning - dont go for very short rides. Anything below 0c i dont ride.dress warm -- !! its a great feeling ..winter is to long and summer to short !!

25 miles may not be long enough to get the oil up to temp. past few days riding 20 miles to work the temp gauge never moved and it was only 30 deg

Good info. The 25 mile loop I do takes around 40 minute or more to complete, going through three small towns and a top speed of 50MPH.
Couldn't hurt to add a few miles onto ride.

+1 for using sta-bil and battery tender. if roads are clear and dry i take the bike out year round

Here is my winter schedule

Mon - Friday wake up at 5 ride to work, get off at 6 PM ride home from work.

Sat - Sun Holidays, ride my *** off with the Fla crew from this forum.
