There have been several threads on here about the black tips on the True Duals turning purple. I have a set of True duals that I took off of my 07' Ultra and put them on my 08' RG. They have a total of about 5000 miles on them in about 4 months of use but have been out of warranty for about 5 months. Also the P-clamp bracket broke about 2 weeks ago. They tell me they will not warranty the tips if they are over one year old. Any suggestions? T.
I bought a can of black and a can of clear from these guys about 2000 miles ago and it turned out pretty good IMO.I took the tips off, roughened them with some fine sandpaper and shot them. The scripted "Rinehart" is also black on my tips but I don't care. It's too much trouble to try and mask them off. http://www.net4sale.com/Shop/pc/home.asp

put another 3000 miles on them, and when they turn copper color, then you can sell them to ME!!
I took mine off, put them in the oven on high heat trying to get them to turn color( from black to purple to copper) and they are still just as black as the day I bought them
Take them off, if you have the bike down for a bit, and send them back... be nice and just ask them why. You catch more flies with honey... you never know. I had a pair of huniting boots for 10 years and the soles split. I sent them back to Filson and 4 weeks later they were returned-- repaired....
Check out Eastern Performance Cycles. They have really nice quality chrome tips in various designs for around $150. You can also find black tip on eBay on occasion.
Have them powder coated black. I did, and it stay's black. 16,000 miles and counting. I own a black sg, so it really goes well with my baby! I also turned the tip's upsidedown so all you see is shiney black, no rinehart name.
