No gasket between the engine and trans. I had this repaired over a year ago on my '07. It is leaking from the crankcase. The fix is a complete tear down of the engine to reseal the case. The cases are vertically split and some 07s had some seepage. It's not a big deal if you are under warranty, but the labor flat rate is 7.5 hours and requires special tools, and a complete engine gasket kit. The primary comes off also. Since it was fixed my has been leak free.

I know on my 07 fltr there is a gasket between the tranny and the engine and the oil flows from the pan through a internal passageway at the front of the tranny into the engine and is returned to the pan through another passageway these passageways are sealed with a steel gasket with rubber seals integrated into it ,I just purchased one from harley on account I have my motor out right now building a 113 inch, the problem is I believe oil seeps out of this gasket and creeps up to the mating surface of the engine and tranny,it would do it on my bike when the motor was really hot this was usually the case when I was running my fairing lowers on a hot day,my bike seems to run a lot hotter with the lowers on ,in cool weather doesn't seem to seep much at all.
anyways this is on a 07 I am not sure of the oil routing on other years

I am going to pick up my bike after a week in the shop doing this repair. I will try and find out something from the dealer and post when I can. Thanks for all the input.

My 07 has weeped like that for about a year. Started after I switched to syn oil, and engine got hot one summers day.( almost 300 deg. oil temp) It never got any worse, and only weeps a small amount. I have debated taking it in as I have the extended warranty, but am afraid to let them tear into it, as I don't have much confidence in the dealerships around here in Ct. where I live.

I just noticed an oil film on my 07 ultra in that area, but it looks like its leaking out of the transmision at the clutch cable and running down the cable. I cleaned it off and will see what happens.

I see no visual evidence of a gasket between the engine and tranny on my '07, although the parts book shows a small one inside the housing that should not be visible when assembled (see page 35, item #25). My bike now has 24k and there is no leakage or seepage yet (knock on wood). Could some bikes have been assembled without gaskets by mistake?
