Why would your lowers need to come off? They have them on the Ultra's year round don't they? I know with soft lowers, you do need to remove them above 50F but I think the hard HD factory lowers allow the motor to get air?
Cherry bike by the way with such low mileage. Spooky looking dogs too with their eye's all aglow..
(There'a at least four dogs, maybe five if you start looking for sets of glowing eyes..)
I rode the bike on our last warm day in Michigan (around 70 degrees) and I got very warm. I was sweating after riding home from work in a tee shirt and jeans. It was also 35 miles on the highway at 80 MPH; so I can't imagine what it would be like on a 90 degree day sitting in traffic, or even on the highway for that matter. They come off real easy anyway and will only be used in the cold months. Then again I'm use to running my RK w/o a windshield for 350 miles a day.
Those dogs were a little scary. These picture were taken by the previous owner at her house.

This is but one of Elvis's Harleys showing that he was way cool, building his own "shark nose" before HD built them themselves. Maybe H.D. took Elvis's lead?? I am told this is a Vetter fairing and the bike is AMF era. (Photo taken at Graceland shortly after opening to the public)
Went to the Stealer today and fell for a black 09 RG. The new striping was blue and looked better than earlier years. Came home and put the King on here and Craigslist for sale. Yep you either love them or hate them. I left that black and blue RG today knowing I had to to the deed soon. Rick

You won't regret your decision to buy one. The Vivid Black is nice and was my second choice. Post some pics once you get her.
Looks like all of your questions have been answered. As far as cb/intercom, go to this thread: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...arts-list.html
It will tell you what is needed to as far as parts and cost in US currency. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Thanks draft1. Its good to know that should I venture over to the RG side that it can be set up with factory CB/Intercom,tour pac and lowers. I would also like to trim out the front fender like an Ultra as well. It looks drab just black.
Thanks a bunch for taking the time answering a couple of my questions. I have seen here RG owners who've said they have the CB/intercom. Wonder if its factory(preferred) or after market?
I use the J&M handlebar unit... you can get it with an intercom included, but I didn't need one. Radio, antenna, and headset, for solo use totaled about $400, I installed it in about one hour...but this is my third unit (3 bikes)
Thanks for getting back with me with that other option. I prefer and am hoping, if the day comes and I do move on an RG, for the factory intercom but if not J&M Corp will be my next option. I have their helmet/speaker/mic combo now and am impressed.
