Default My Dad's old Harley

No that isn't my dad on the bike. I think it is my cousin. My dad passed away last year Nov.11th. I asked him about this bike a couple of years ago. He got a tear in his eye an told me he didn't remember. I did some checking and found out the picture was taken about 1960. I was two. The same year my brother was born and the 6th of eight kids. I guess money was tight and he rode it from Williamsburg Va.(our home) to Washington D.C. and sold it. He told me he had just got a flat top hair cut and got his scalp sunburned. Not sure the model or year but hope you guys could help with that.

Looks like it has an Indian lamp on the front fender. I'll bet he took some grief for that!

It has to be 1949 to 1957. 1949 saw the introduction of the Hydra Glide using front shock absorbers. 1958 was the first year of the Duo Glides with shocks all around. The hand shifter was only used on 1/3, or less, of the bikes sold after 1953. A picture from the other side of the bike could shrink the range a bit more.

It takes a dad to do what he did...you should be very proud of him.
