Mileage
I'll average 10k miles a year.....with work weeks consisting of 50 to 60 hours,
and also being 'on call' 2 weekends a month which I can't ride.
I never use my bike to take me to work, thats what my truck is for....
all my miles are to take me away from work.
So when my wife and I get a chance to escape for a day, there's something
special about a 600 mile ride, 3 states away for a basket of hot wings, some sweet 'tater fries, and a bottomless pitcher of iced tea.
This is our therapy....speciality doctors charge upwards of $120 / hr and don't clear my mind half as well !!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'll share mine. 21100 in 8 months April-November.
5600 of those miles were planned tours, so thats 15500 I can't account for.
Well.....I do ride to work most days but, thats only a 6 mile round trip.

Up untill 10-15-01 I rode 20,000 or more miles a year. Since my big crash, 2500 miles a year about does me in.
I DO know one thing for sure, the more miles I ride per year, The HAPPIER I am. And HAPPY is good! I surely do wish I could get back in that 20,000 miles a year club. It was a great club to be in!

Except no one mentioned a thing about "bling". I had a photo of the mufflers I was selling to accompany the ad in my signature to sell the mufflers. They sold today and I then changed my signature and that photo. Sorry if he dosn't like my opinion about racking up miles just for the sake of the miles themselves but I am entitled to my opinion, just as he and you are entitled to yours too. But lets keep the facts straight here. There was no BLING in my signature, nor any bragging about bling.
Lastly, I gotta say that Tyroneshoelaces Avatar is worth posting here, just to see her again..

My statement was basically reworded here :
If I put a lot of miles on my bikes and say so then it's said I'm bragging , however look at some of the sigs ( again not pointing any one person out ) and all the modifications and bling added on .. Is that not bragging ??
Again you wanna spend your money on bling and mods thats fine , I'd rather put it in gas , oil , and tires .. I didnt buy it to look at it , I bought it to ride it ..
To each his own .. I dont flame you for how you see fit to spend your money on your bike , and expect the same in return ..
Sounds like a fun contest. Are thre many in your chapter that actually try to win?
I was an Activities officer for two years and am always looking for new ideas.
I ride two bikes, and average about 15-20K a year

As that great American philosopher Bill Murray said in the movie "MEATBALLS" ... "it just doesn't matter"... we each enjoy our bikes in our own way... from the "wear the bike out until it's just a pile of rust", riders to the "keep the miles off her to maintain high resale value" riders... HOW you enjoy your bike, is your concern...
Some clubs have mileage programs that only count miles ridden with the chapter, other have total miles ridden in a year. I have issues with BOTH concepts...
Miles ridden in a year WITH the chapter... example rider A, attends once a month and on short rides, totals 1500-2000 miles a year . Rider B shows up once a year, on the long trip, does 2000-2500 miles with the chapter.. so? acording to the miles program "B" is the more active member
Miles ridden in a year...I do (say) 20k a year, but by myself... WHY??? should HOG even care.... they never see me, I don't ride with them...
Miles are just to let you know it's time to change the oil....or when it's time to stop and fill the gas tank...
Spend you money... on gas and oil, or on bling, or just on insurance for your un-ridden bike... it's YOUR nickle, spend it as you will

Well, I'll brag about mileage. It's ok by me. I bought this bike to ride it and enjoy every mile of it. Some out there can chime in and call me an ***, but a little healthy competition about mileage amongst friends is just fine. Another reason I'm ok with it is that there are so many people that buy a nice bike and leave it sit - that is just wrong. It is none of my business, but it's a shame to think someone spends that kind of money on a scoot and it just sits for whatever reason. I will not be that guy - I can afford mine, but can't afford to have it sit, so I ride as much as possible. I'm also in Michigan which our season is cut short by crap winters and foul weather, but we do our best. I guess my point is that it's ok to brag about your mileage - it's a gauge to show how much you indulge in your passion and as long as it isn't annoying anyone but overusage, it's ok. Those who don't ride often at all and CAN should just walk the other way and not listen. It's just another way to express your passion.
Ok, done now
Ride safe all of you who live where it's warm (seriously jealous here)
