+1 for the Mustang from me. They have great customer support too. I first tried the solo with the passenger pillion. The front of the pillion provides back support up to about 8". I didn't really like the seam where the pillion and seat came together. I exchanged it for their one piece touring seat without the buttons and added a backrest. It's like riding a different bike. I have a bad back and could only do about 1 hour before without a break. Now I frequently ride until I need to fuel up. It does seem to sit you a bit higher though. good luck!

I noticed that too. I removed all the rubber feet. 6 places. The ones at the back fender were much larger than the front 4. I replaced the back 2 with a set from the front. Even though the seats for an 08. I fits perfectly now on a 1993 frame.

I'm on my seventh Corbin, and I love em. The dual tourer has been great since the wife started riding with me. Backrest for rider, and I love it. I've easily got 200,000 on Corbins, and I really like the ride. You do need to break them in, but once done, they're great. EBay has some good deals on used ones, and they're really hard to wear out.

I started looking at threads about different seats a year ago when I bought my 08 Ultra Classic. It made my head spin and still does.

I used the stock seat for a while and never thought it was awful...then I put the backrest on the bike. UGH! I'm 6'4 and the back rest sucked. Pushed me so far forward, the gas tank turned into a nut rack.

Bought the Tallboy seat. It's ok but it definately pushed me back and it's a reach to the handlebars. I have long arm, 36/37 length and I feel it's too far back. It also lowered me where I'm looking through the windshield and not over.

So, I'm going back to stock...for now.

When I had a Honda VTX, I bought an Ultimate Seat and it was stellar. Bad news is that they don't make a seat for the 08 Ultra Classic...until Spring that is. As soon as it's on the market...I'm all over it like the brat and potatoes against the gas tank.

Haven't heard Ultimate mentioned on this forum (I certainly could have missed it), but I loved their seat and would highly recommend taking a look.

i too had problems finding the right seat for my 08 sg. bought the sundowner in street glide stitch for the 325$ and at 6;4" was very annoying to say the least. pushed me foreward too much and the kick up in the back was too much pressure. found a guy who wanted it, so i sold it and put the stock sg seat back on. far better, but been looking at the le para maverick, they sure look great, but for now, it's gonna be the stock sg seat till i find something that's more comfortable.

I would say the Sundowner would be a good bet. I have one on my 08 EGS and it does everything you mentioned compared to the stock seat on my bike. My rear never gets sore on it. I would say it's a little bit firmer than my stock seat but is definitely not a board. Good choice. My Sundowner keeps me back in the seat. Someone else mentioned that his Sundowner allowed him to slide forward. Don't find that in my case. I've both Mustang and Corbins and they were good seats, but my Sundowner is right up their with them.

RJ, Nice to put a face with a product. You do good work with the shields. Mine have been great.

I tried a couple but love the Ultimate. It is a little more costly but very comfortable. It isn't very low profile though
