Default Seat Recommendations Needed

Im looking to find in your opinion the best seat out there. I need a touring style. 2 up. but allows for a driver's backrest. Even without the back rest inserted, the driver's seat must have a high back, for lower back support. I would like it to have a bucket shape to keep me in it. It will be used for long tours. No sunken buttons. Though plush, it needs to set low. A low profile look to it. I would like a store bought type, not a custom made one.

Post your links for me please.

Thank you, RJ

To match all your requirments I don't have a clue.

All I can tell you is:

HD Sundowner:
Nice seat kinda comfy
It kinda rolls (slides) me forward putting pressure on my boys (if you know what I mean)
and every hard bump in the road, slid my butt forward in the seat and I would have to constantly readjust my butt backwards in the saddle

Corbin:
I had a beautiful Gunfighter on my Fat Boy and it was comfy except for the: every hard bump in the road, slid my butt forward in the seat and I would have to constantly readjust my butt backwards in the saddle
They say you need to break it in at least 1,000 miles, but I had 4,000 miles on mine and it was as hard then, as the day it came out of the box.
I even had them check my suspinsion to see if it was set un stiff.
Right after I put the Mustang seat on, I went back in and told them my suspinsion is fine with the Mustang seat. It was the Corbin that was making it ride stiff.

Mustang:
Very comfy right out of the box
I did not slide forward when hitting hard bumps in the road
But me and my brother-in-law noticed after a while the Mustangs kinda makes our sciatic nerve hurt

So after spending hundreds of dollars and guessing on seats, after I bought my Street Glide I had my stock seat reworked, twice. The first time made my tailbone hurt.
I had it recovered 3 times before I found a guy who made it look nice.
The first time I didn’t like the material I had picked out.
The second time he did a rush job and I didn’t like the result.
Third time I went to a different (cheaper) local guy. He did a great job.

The reworked stock seat was still not an all day perfect seat (especially not two up)
so I bought a “HD Pillow Look Seat” on a buddies recommendation for comfort.
I too didn’t like the “buttons” so I took it to my local guy and he did a wonderful job recovering it. I love this seat on the road but it does sit you higher and is a lot higher with your feet on the ground. But is really nice hitting hard bumps in the road.

C&C has a great looking two up with removable backrest

I couldn't get this picture to show:

Like I said, I guess I’m not much help. Good luck.

I dont think I will ever buy any seat but a mustang for any touring bike. I dont mind 500+miles a day in one with backrest. And I have a bad back.

zoood, based on your specifications, it sounds like your best option is to find a Vendor who will make a custom seat for you that will meet your needs & goals.

That is truly the best way to meet every bullet item you listed.

Actually I was looking for the easy way out. In the past I have made my own seats. But there's a hell of a lot of work involved. here's one I made. Shaped it with clay first and then went through all the steps.

This is the finished product. I didnt do the upholstery. though I did design the pattern.

Like I said. It's a lot of work!

Saddlemen Explorer Special. The only thing I might mention is that it will probably not lower you. That being said, the split cushion is really really comfortable.

Damn dude...that's pretty detailed!!!

I can (now) see why you are wanting to take the easy road.

Sundowner Deep Bucket Seat - Smooth

Sundowner Deep Bucket Seat - Street Glide Stitching

Personally speaking, I'm not a fan of Corbin seats. Bought one that was supposed to be 'the most comfortable bucket in the world' and dreaded my decision from the first time I sat on the seat.

Saddlemen's makes a few that are reasonably decent to sit on (sat on a few friends bikes with Saddlemen's seats), though I've never ridden on one.

TFB, it sounds like the stock Ultra/Electra Glide seat would work for you in terms of the bucket and backrest. But I found on my Road Glide that it sat me a little taller than the stock "sporty" seat of that model. Here's a pic of an Ultra seat with a Mustang backrest - might be an option for you to consider.

I like my Sundowner Deep Bucket with Street Glide Stitching. Works well for me and the wife. I did a 400 mile day on it without much discomfort.
