I don't care what HID Light Kit you buy but the light output compared to stock is probably 80% brighter and the distance you can see down the road is almost doubled. Plus the low beam lights up both road shoulders so you can see the deer grazing before your right on top of them. I have the MotorCycle Metal Kit and have to say his customer service is top notch.
I have lost faith in my HID from HD. I hooked it up directly to the battery and still doesn't work. So it is the Ballast or the bulb and they are $100 each to replace. I'm going to put the old original light back in I guess.
Dalej, Dale, as per conversation yesterday, do you have this type HID D2C of bulb? I have no experience with Harley Davidso0n low beam only bulbs. If this is the correct one, I have found many on e-Bay and several searching the net. I can give you a list of links if it is. I do not sell them.
I have no idea what is in the metal box but I think it is a socket. I also have a list of bottom of the base (contact) photos showing the 3 different bases and contacts if this will help you out.
Has anyone had any problems with the ballast on the HID headlight? I installed one two years ago and now the low beam won't start. It flickers for a few seconds and then goes out completely.
That exact same thing happen to my HID (not Harley) and it turned out to be the bulb, not the ballast. The mfg said there was a tiny crack and the gas had leaked out. Just food for thought....
I have sent an e-Mail to my supplier to see if they can get you one (D1R). Do not count on it, however. Hope I can help you. Just pay the invoice they charge me.
