+1 on the Baker If I ever wanted one that would be it.
No levers just push a safety switch and push the foot shifter down one more time (past first) they did have a picture of a girl doing a burn out in reverse on the web site.
I'm surprised the Motor Company hasn't offered a reverse as some kind of option on their heavy (Touring) bikes. I'm no pansy but there have been times I've had a hard time backing up the bike (2007 Fltr).
Anyone ever look at this? Is it possible to do reasonably? Surgery #7 coming up in January... getting tough to push back with a weak left leg. No, I am not prepared to give it up and I am not prepared to go to a Trike. Yes, I do try to park in places where I can pull through, but it's inevitable that I end up somewhere where it is not possible. Embarrassing to ask my wife to hop off, while I struggle to push the bike up a minor b.ump... Could be that the surgery will make me stronger... Just thinking ahead.
And no I'm not going to ride a Goldwing.
i don't see that having the wife get off embarrassing . she even helps push sometimes .no big deal better than having your pride and joy lying on it's side. then you really have to be embarrassed. if there was a reverse that was practical instead of a major undertaking i would invest.maybe should be an option from the factory
Harleys new trike has a reverse option. It might fit you bike cause I don't think that they changed the tranny since yours. Its electric accuated and $1200.00. Where as they have a deal with Lehman trikes and HD uses Lehman to build thier trike I bet it would fit your application. Check thier web sight..

I talked to Baker Drivetrain about theirs and I liked their set up best. But it is the most expensive ($1,895). I like it because you don't have to reach down to a lever and once you go back into first you can not accidentally shift into reverse again. They are working on a 2009 model and I may go that route later myself.
If I am loaded up with luggage and in an awkward parking situation, I don't want to be leaning over the side of my bike to put it into reverse.

Below was copied from an email I received from Baker.
Our F6R system is designed for the new Cruise Drive transmission in 06 Dynas and 07-up big twins.
The reverse systems starts at $1325 and ranges to $1420 depending on finish and choice of mechanical or hydraulic clutch actuator. As far as installation, we could rebuild the gearset for $75.00 plus shipping but you would have to be responsible for the install on the motorcycle. We put labor time around 5 8 hrs.
We dont have any pics of the F6R installed on a motorcycle but if you go to www.lehmantrikes.com Im sure theyll have a picture of the F6R installed on a motorcycle.

Cool - I hope your e-mail is more accurate. They quoted me $1,895 in mine for the chrome finish. course, the 2009 isn't ready yet anyway.
