Wish i had not read this tread, now i'm thinking about the reverse gear myself. My brother has a Wing and thinks nothing of parking anywhere he wants. Don't tell him i said this but he can keep his Honda, but i would like to have his reverse.

Default Reverse Gear on Touring Bike?

I talked to Baker several months ago and at that time they said it could not be installed on an 09 tourer with the OEM stock pipes? If that has changed let me know! JC.

Don't give a thought about asking for help. It is a sign of a thinking person, and you will meet some of the nicest people who are most willing to assist.

I am 6'2" 210 lbs and fit and I ask for help all the time.

I like it because you don't have to reach down to a lever and once you go back into first you can not accidentally shift into reverse again. They are working on a 2009 model and I may go that route later myself.

If I am loaded up with luggage and in an awkward parking situation, I don't want to be leaning over the side of my bike to put it into reverse.
I don't have to lean over to the side to engage reverse. Even with my short arms I just reach my hand down and there it is. And the kit has a safety feature to prevent accidentally engaging first with the lever in reverse.

I'm sure the Baker kit is top quality. But looks fairly complex and adds a lot of parts onto the bike. Not sure where the big solenoid sits.

JMO, but with that nice Harley you have, I would go with the Baker. It is a 1st class deal!

I'm going to check into the Baker reverse right after the holidays. If I do it I'll post after the install.

Thanks Twinrider. That helps my decision. Do you have a link of where they can be purchased? What was the price again? What type of warranty?

This was email I received from Jerome Leach of Baker. I guess 2009's are priced higher right now:

"The F6R will work with 2009 H-D’s if you are running a true dual exhaust system. The stock 2into1 system will interfere with the reverse lockout solenoid. The price on the F6R kit ranges from $1750 to $1895 depending on clutch actuator and finish. Polished kits are $1750 and chrome kits are $1895.

We are working on designing a new solenoid for ’09 models with stock exhaust but we are not sure when they will be released. :

Please stay tuned.

Thanks

The Triglide uses a electric motor for reverse. The Moco and Lehman are in bed but the Triglide is proprietary as hell, not much if any Lehman trike kit parts on it. The reverse uses what looks like a high torque starter to engage a gear which is bolted along side the drive belt. I know from watching them unload my dads bike from a trailer that when you push the reverse button you better have you **** together, it gets with the program in short order. They say 2 mph, I think its faster.
