run the wire up through the hole in the seat, then put it in the pouch on your rider backrest.

Looks like a useful source for this stuff if you're lucky enough to find what you want in your size; they don't have all of them.

They warn that what they're selling is older, discontinued stuff that may be "flawed, blemished, or slightly used", and they offer no guarantees or returns, which would be a show-stopper for me. I used the Gerbing's sizing information for both my liners and Cascade Extremes when I ordered from Gerbing's, and got sizes that didn't fit the first time for both.

My advice would be to buy from this place only if you can tolerate "seconds" merchandise and you're absolutely sure about your size information.

Why not use the ACC switch on the dash, which is fused at 15A? You can then toggle the heated clothing on/off easily, which is convenient even if you have the controller (thermostat). The ACC connector is under the seat, which is a good location for connecting heated clothing, IMO. My connector hangs out from under the seat toward the front, and I have it hidden behind the heat deflectors. The HD connector isn't compatible with my Gerbings harness so I then bought a "Y" adapter from HD (#70264-94A) and spliced a connector that was compatible with my Gerbings gloves.

I'm thinking about adding a heated jacket liner, and a friend has a Gerbings he wants to sell for $100 (with old-style connectors that must be changed), so I may spring for it if it fits me. Does anyone know if the new-type Gerbings connectors (round) can be purchased anywhere, like Radio Shack?

Why not just order it online from Gerbing's? Their quality's very good, much better than anything from "China, INC".

Did you or anyone else happen to buy the "older style" jacket liner seen here? If so, I'd like a rundown on the connector type used and whether or not it has the "power distribution unit." I actually would rather not have the PDU, as I think I want to connect the jacket and gloves using a single controller, thus not have to buy the additional adapter needed to adapt it to the newer PDU connector on the liner. Anyone using an older liner and gloves that are powered by one controller?

Thanks for that link. I have a friend with an older Gerbings liner he's selling that he describes as having "old type" connectors--i.e., before even the battery-tender type. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't have a clue what type it has. If I bought it I would likely need to change just the connectors, and I don't see these on the Gerbings site. I don't think Radio Shack connectors are deficient quality, though, as I buy things from them all the time. The question is whether or not they have the newer Gerbings type, but I'll find out later this afternoon.

That's a good price but I believe the newer jacket liners are 90 watts. If it has the old style connector, they are what I've heard referred to as SAE, like a two prong trailer connector, easy to find and make adapters for. The new connectors are referred to as coax as. If you're gonna get gloves at some point I doubt you want to have to fool with adapters from the jacket liner to the gloves, better to have the same connector.

All I can add is that the info that came with my Gerbing's "PDU style" stuff shows two kinds of connectors, one they call "PDU style" and the other they call "Grommet style".

"PDU style" has three wiring terminations molded in a plastic holder sewn into the garmet. "Grommet style" has three wires hanging down with connectors on the end of each one. I can't speculate if "grommet style" is the "older style", but the point is that in each of these "styles" there are the same three wires, and I seriously doubt you could avoid using the splitter accessory if you wanted to power the liner and gloves from the same power source. I do that - power from one of my dual power controller outputs powers my jacket and gloves using a splitter, and the other power controller wire heats my pants.

I don't think Radio Shack connectors are deficient quality, though, as I buy things from them all the time.
I have too, over the years. Some of their stuff is, well, OK, but not everything, by long shot. Their advertising slogan used to be "You have questions? We have answers". I always chuckled when I heard that and thought to myself, "Yeah, but they're wrong answers". Those guys are often wrong, but never in doubt.
