What button you ask? The button that switches between total miles and trip miles on the odometer. It appears to be going bad. I can push it once maybe twice when I first start up the bike and switch between the 2 different settings, but after that its locked. Is it difficult to replace/repair?
Just take the console off the tank, and you'll have full access to replacing it with a new one. Might have to do some soldering of the wires, but I think it's only 2 or 3 wires.
its about a 15 minute job. the problem i had is the button would tend to 'stick' so the speedo would go into diagnostic mode when i first started it up. or if i was on the road, i would press it once to change from clock to mileage, and nothing would happen, press it again and it would register as 2 pushes and go past where i wanted to go.
i had mine replaced under warranty so i cant tell you if it had to be soldered or not, but like i said, from the time that they pulled it into the shop until ready to wheel out, was 15 mins, so i don't imagine it's too difficult.
I have a 96 flhri road king that needs a gas tank.does any one have any idea what years will fit.i was told up to a 2001 would fit but i would have to weld a tab on the bottom of the tank where it mounts to the frame under the seat.if thats the case ,not a problem.
