I had the same problem with my 07 Rinehart true duals. I tried the slide hammer to no avail. What I finally did was soak them with PB blaster up near the head pipe end. I then used vise grips and pulled and moved the baffle pipe up and down and side to side while pulling as hard as I could. I got them out, and reinstalled the new ones with anti seize. I have switched between quiet, and standard baffles since, and they seem to come out easier now. I reinstalled them using a plastic mallet. Just be careful not to mangle the lip of the baffle up to much with the vise grips.
If you can move the pipe from side to side it might shake loose. The vise grip idea might work but be careful not to deform the end of the pipe to much otherwise the tip will not go back on.
Once the tip was off I was able to drill 2 cross holes in the baffle pipe . 180 degrees apart from one another. Not the Outside pipe ... just the inside. I put a pin into those holes. I attached a slide hammer to the pins. I must have had at least a five pound weight on it. The baffle wouldn't budge even with a bunch oh shots with the slide hammer. Like I said in my first post the bike was actually sliding across the floor. I eventually bent my cross pin and gave up.
I wish I had good news for you. Some guys seem to be able to get there's out easier but I think most if not all are earlier model Reinharts.
Birdman143, you can make reinharts louder by making your own baffle. I took my baffles out and took measurements for length and diameter at each end and had my local muffler man make pipes for replacement. Then drill holes in them to get the right sound. A little time drilling and welding to get correct sound.....but now it's perfect. Louder than stock and sounding GREAT! I receive compliments all the time on the sound and questioned how I got it out of Reinharts.
Well I will give it another try; this time with the vice grips. I want them out for the Parade. If I can get them out and back in i will consider different baffles and packing just to be doing something. Thanks for all the hints on how to get them out.
Amazing, I was just getting ready to start a thread about is very things. I ride with guys that have them and theirs seem louder, I think I might try the other baffles. Does having a stage one, turner, remapped, etc...have anything to do with the sound coming out of the pipes?
The air cleaner change to the SE filter made a big sound change on my bike. When you start opening the throttle its like taking the air filter off a old big block street car in the '60.
Here's my home-made tool I used to remove my baffles. It's two tent stakes w/ the tip bent to make a hook & vice grips - with the help of a hammer. All it takes is a little determination.
