Abrought it back to me before I got off work, and had about 3 hrs of daylight left so I thought I would give a quick inspection to be sure I was satisfied with the work and what did I find but a dent the size of a nickle and the paint chipped, man am I pissed or what,so took it back to the dealer and they ordered a new tank for the bike, should be here in a couple of weeks, two weeks of looking at it,two weeks of being p.o.ed,from now on I will take the bike there myself and wait right there for it,and will inspect it with the shop manager before I take it home,arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh[sm=icon_flaming.gif]
Hey
**** happens some times, If the dealer is going to replace the tank that is a good thing yes?
He could have said it was there when he picked the bike up then it would be your word against his.
Sorry to hear about your tank. Good luck on a couple weeks for a new one. When they replaced mine I was told painted parts even on current models took 6-10 weeks. It took 6 weeks for mine. Hope thats not the case for you. At least you can drive it in the interim.
I had to get a new tank, it took 11 weeks! hope yours comes faster. but like groffitti said at least you can ride her.
make sure you check the gas gauge, mine didn't work after the tank was put on.
My dealer had to order me a new gas tank as well. When I brought the bike in for service they do an extensive walk around and write every flaw down. When I picked up the bike I did a walk around as well. There was a small dent on the top of the gas tank. They admitted fault. And they said it could take 2 to 10 weeks to get the new tank. It depends when Moco is going to paint that color on a particular day. Like you I am glad they did not give me a hassle. Bob.
Sounds like your dealer is a stand-up guy and is doing the right thing but I feel your pain. If we didn't love these bikes like we do, we wouldn't hurt so bad when something goes wrong and there would be no need for this forum.
I've taken very good care of all my previous bikes (Jap) but none has stolen my heart like this one. How about the rest of you? There is something to be said about the affects a Harley has on you.
Understand your upset, be glad that the Dealer is doing what they should be doing and enjoy the bike until the tank gets here-problem not so bad after all.
