clean it with Adam's polish detail spray. Then to get rid of those lovely swirl marks I use eagle one nanowax spray. This is done about every 4-5 days depending on how much I ride it. In the mornings, I blow off the dust with my air compressor
A good thick coat of dirt, mud, and road grime helps too keep the paint from fadeing due to UV rays!--- I know that my bike is nice and clean under all that "protective" coating.
That is just too much work for me! Ten minute car wash quickie when it gets nasty and I pay someone to give it a good once over every year. Whatever the pros use on it make it super easy when I soap it down, mitt it and rinse it off.
Kind of funny, since I got back into Harleys/Bikes after getting my kids old enough to not need me anymore the Cars in the family have really gone to $hit, I pay people to do service on them now. The Harleys remain spotless, I will say I am down to once a week with the new Vivid Black 09 as I think washing too much it increases swirl marks. I dont sleep well when its in the garage dirty. I like to ride it in the rain just to get alll the dirt loose before I bring it home and wash it in the rain the blow dry in the garage. The neighbors and local cops and emergency workers think I am crazy, I have ridden in tropical storms bordering on cat 1 hurricanes just to get out of the house and get the bike cleaned while the storms rage (not kidding here). I know its a sickness, the OL and friends attempt a intervention every now and then, I just pop a beer and keep waxing saying "yes I know but the bike is dirty". I need help.
I spend a lot of time detailing the bike also. I enjoy cleaning, polishing, and waxing. I didnt get it done before the snows hit though and now I can't get enough nerve to do it, even with a garage kerosene heater. I like to detail my bike but not when its freezing cold out side.
Yeh, same sad story here. 4-5 hours for a clean, at least once a week. Spray detail and Micros in the saddlebag. And always a wipe down before going anywhere. I'm not super healthy so it's exhausting for me, but also very relaxing. It helps me sleep!!
As a matter of fact, I clean it before it goes to service!
I like it clean and shiney, and also like the complements I get. Especially when people find out it's almost 8 years old!
Still got dead bugs and road grime on it from a month ago.....
...but the fluids are fresh and correct, everything tightened and torqued to spec, tire/suspension air pressures just right, all checks performed and she's topped off and hooked to a battery tender!
Now if you lived in Florida you wouldnt have to put the bike away at all. 75 - 80 today little coudy but about 85 % sun, put 150 miles on the bike today, would have been a lot more but had to go to teh inlaws for dinner.
