I thought I would share this idea. When I bought my Ultra back in 06, I read the owners book a little. What I discovered was the lights are fused like an auto. What happenes when it decides to blow while riding? With that thought, I swapped the fuse out for a auto resetting circut breaker of the same amperage. I've done the same with the radio main fuse. It will trip on occasion if I leave the radio on when I turn the bike off and restart it. What I used was the larger older size circut breaker that I had and filed a portion of the prongs off to fit the fuse holder. It's been almost 3 years and no problems yet.
While you were at it you might have thought about putting in a marine grade waterproof push on/push off mini button and a relay. If/more likely when you have an electrical problem like battery dies or stater dies, and you are out riding, just turn the headlight off and have your friends/passers by push starting the bike. I would rather ride a bike than push a bike with the headlight off.

As someone who has taught & worked in the electrical industry for 25+ yrs, a note of caution. For example a 5a fuse & a 5 amp cb may have the same current trip ratings but are TOTALLY different as to how fast or slow they may trip and clear the fault current and contain the fault. Fuses are ALWAYS used with sensitive or critical loads. Not saying it wont work but you gotta be careful. They use fuses for many various reasons.I carry spare fuses. just my .02
I've never had the headlight cb trip. I have this phobia of riding down a dark windy road and the lights go out. Now, it has me thinking about putting on seperate road lights and a seperate circut!

Your absolutely right. You shouldn't replace a fuse with a CB unless you know the heater rating of the CB. Could be 101% all the way up to 300% or more. Just because a 15 amp fuse came out doesn't mean you can stick a 15 amp CB in the slot.
Hey dh2683 , you smell something burning?
Ok folks, you got me thinking. I went to the local NAPA store when I bought the cb and asked for them. I specifically stated what I was going to do with them. NOW. How do I know what rateing they have on them? or is there a way to test them???? Or lead me in a direction where I can buy a calibrated 15 amp cb. Thanks
Thanks people for the dumb azz award of the day. I guess I earned that. Now, can I get an answer to where I can get the correct cb for my application? Is there a marking on them that shows the rating? Thanks all.
