i just installed wild 1 chubbys w0515 they are a 10'' mini ape.. so they give a 2'' more raise than stock , i like the looks better than the heritage, they work for me, iam 6'6''
I put heritage on mine. Bars were given to me by a friend. Since I have the throttle by wire I had to modify the bars to accept the throttle control, and of course drill a hole in the center of the bars, by the handlebar clamp for the wires to exit the bars. All in all, not too bad, and the price was right. The bars made a big difference. Now, Im thinking of adding some beach bars, for even more comfort.
Right on Lads, Heritage bars it shall be. Thanks for the imput. Ride Safe
When you go to your dealer take a pair of Heritage bars AND a pair of Wide Glide bars out to your bike for comparison. They're pretty similar, but have slightly different wrist angles. Might as well be sure you're comfortable, & the change is easy with either bar.
Has anyone done a swap on stock RG handlebars? I am 6"2", and when I lean back against the backrest and reach out for my hiway pegs, I find I am stretching for the grips on my stock bars. I would like to be able to change to something with alittle more rearward reach, but still be able to use the stock cables. Any thoughts?
I changed out my '09 RG bars to the chrome RK bars (P/N#56941-09) & the RG stock seat to the SE Electra Glide seat (P/N#52690-04). Both items come stock on the '09 SECVO RG. I'm 6'2" as well and needed the flatter lower profile of the RK bars and EG seat...fit's like a glove.
I had Wild1 WO517's installed by a local dealership. Only the clutch cable had to be re-routed and I love the look of the fat chubby's compared to the stock handlebars and the comfort improved 100%.
I think the Khrome Werks Sweeper +2 may give you a little more pull back and rise. That is what I put on my Roadglide and am very satisfied with them. Used stock cables and wiring. However, you will need to reroute the clutch cable similar to a Road King. As I understand it you will have to do this with the Wideglide and Heritage bars also. I am 5' 11" with a 35 inch sleeve and am now very comfortable. The $65.00 price is right too.
I too did the handlebar swap to the new heritage style bars for the RG. I would NOT switchs back for any reason whatsoever. I am 5'11" and now I can reach my bars without leaning forward and getting the blinding pain in my left shoulder after hours of riding, and I can reach my cruising pegs just fine.JMO
