Thought I would put a question to the group.
I have an 05 RKC, bought used last year for around $14,000, bike was slightly modded, was happy with the deal.
Since then, I have put in another $6000 or so into the bike, with bolt ons, and some engine work. By no means is this a "custom" or even much out of the ordinary, but my point is Iam getting close to $20 grand in this bike, and there is still PLENTY I want to do.
At what point does spending more and more money, start to make no sense at all. My wife already thinks Iam crazy.
Just curious how many "average joe's" out there have major money tied up in there everyday drivers.
Mike.
Im guilty to, it never ends. But at least you have some thing your proud of. And you have the bike exatly the way you want it, and every things been done right. I dont let the wife no what im spending, i just tell her im getting some minor upgrades. Which is TRUE. The other thing is, you buy another bike and all the modifications start over. So are you really any further ahead? You should be so lucky, i spent $27,000 for my 04 FATBOY and have put in at least another $13,000. ADD THAT UP. GOOD LUCK!

Honestly I think most of us are guilty of the same. I just traded my RoadKing which was totally loaded and like most was always looking at doing something else to him. Now for the Ultra, you don't even want to know what was and has been ordered. But you know what IT IS OK.
From the thumbnail description of what you have done, its very hard for any of us to provide accurate suggestions, however, I'm sure your wife will tell you when enough is enough.
I think we are all guilty and not just with our bikes. Do we absolutely have to have a house as big as we have? Multi vehicles? Acreage? Boats? RVs? Lovers? Pets? Etc? You get the picture.
i have found that there is one sure way of telling when yuou should stop spending money on your scoot. That my friend is when you trade it for another one.
