SG VS Heritage
If you do plan on long rides, either alone or with other riders, that radio and MP3 player can really be nice to have.
1. Suspension. Stock SG 12" air shocks have about the same travel as the Softail, but if you want an improvement you can install either 13" FLH air shocks or numerous aftermarket units. The Softail may have options too, but I doubt if travel can be increased.
2. Cruise Control, optional on the SG, isn't available for the Softail. You just think you won't like it.
3. Stereo. Again, you just think you won't like it.
4. Gauges. I like information in front of me.
5. Cold-weather protection the fairing offers, especially for hands. Need more for legs and feet? Add vented lowers.
6. Dual-rotor brakes.
7. Larger, lockable saddlebags.
8. Smoother at speed with rubber engine mounts, and no counter-balancer to steal HP and add complexity.
9. Lower rake angle should make the SG handle more nimbly at slower speeds, but I haven't ridden the new bikes with larger rear tire.
Note: Plan on replacing the stock 4-in. "wind deflector" with a real windshield. It is a nice cosmetic touch to attract buyers but as Raaze07 said it is otherwise worthless. I suggest looking at a Clearview with recurve.
