A buddy and I are going out to rapid city the last week of Aug.
Going to tour the area for 6 days .Never been to the rally befor. But can't get there any sooner. Is the weather any different the end of the month?
WE are staying in rapid city because it seems like a good central location to see all the attractions.

Me and the old lady stayed in Rapic City last year. It is a good place to be central to the activities. The weather was just a tad cooler than Missouri last year upper 80''s mid 90's. I never wore a jacket once. I take that back. I did one morning, but after 20 min, I took it off. The weather up there can swing either way. My buddy went in 04 and about froze his *** off at night in his tent. Other times it can be in 100's. Best advice, be prepared for rain, heat or cold.
Fisrt time this year for me too. 6 buds & myself are staying at the Broken Spoke Campground. Keeps me sane thinking about sturgis while its freezin outside.
Unfortunately I will have to put Sturgis off, at least for my bike, until 2010.
I'm getting married the last week of July and since we've both been married before and have no need of a Honeymoon we're going on a family vacation to Mt Rushmore, Custer State park, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, etc...
I may pass through Sturgis a week or two prior to the main event just to see how it looks.
You all can look for me to be there in 2010.
I will not miss that....
My Wife and I went with four other couples last year. It was the first time for us and all but one of the couples. We stayed at the Best Western in Hill City. My Wife just started riding and was real nervous because people were telling her all kinds of wild stories. I told her she didn't need to worry since most of the wild stuff takes place in the Sturgis campgrounds. She ended up having a great time like the rest of us.
We are going to miss Sturgis this year since we are going with a different group of five or six couples and taking a 3500 mile trip from KC and to Branson, Mountain Home Arkansas, Memphis, Nashville, The Dragon (Deal's Gap), Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia Beach, Statue of Liberty, Niagara Falls, across Ontario to Detroit, Chicago, Des Moines and back to KC. We are going before Sturgis week, but I'll sure be wishing I was there when that week rolls around. I will go back to Sturgis in probably a year or two.

Wow. Now that, my friend, is a Tour with a capital 'T'. Sounds like fun. I'm jealous.
