Same here, ceratinly not up to HD standards especially for the price we paid.
HD standards>> the price they charge??

I had the trim rings on my 01 RK. Liked the look but HATED the gap. Dealer just shrugged it off. I wrote to MOCO and never heard anything back from them. I love my H/D but hate the MOCO.[:@]
Yes - this piece is straight out of taiwan - I have the gap as well - I also returned a couple before realizing it was just a pis poor design.
I have to wonder if there was some problem converting standard to metric - or a translation problem between chinese and english or something.. The sad thing is really, that this problem has been around for a long time and they have done nothing about it - like redesign it to fit properly. WTF - It was only about 20 bucks or something - you get what you pay for.
Hope these engineers didn' t do any work in the engine or transmission area
You could shrink it all you want - and the gap would still not go away because the trim ring has an inner circumference less than the outer circumference of the original ring it must go over - it actually needs to be bigger to make the gap go away. About 1/8 to 1/4 inch.
HD knows this - it has been a problem for a long time - I can only believe they have about a million of these things in a warehouse somewhere and do not want to scrap them.
I suggested to a staff member at Kuryakyn that the company ought to think about marketing one for their customers. The only other one that I'm familiar with is by Headwinds...it is a piece of art but very pricey$$$$.
