I'm am so sorry if this has been answered before but after spending hours and hours researching and reading this forum I still don't think I know the answer....If I bought the Garmin Zumo 450 for hubby's electra glide classic how in the world would he hear the commands from the unit?? I know you can wire the unit to AUX and use the radio speakers but then you can't hear the music. Is there anyway to buy a headset or ear plug that he could use so he could still hear music from his speakers??? Or is there a way to wire the zumo to the radio speakers and the voice command just cuts in and then the radio comes back on??? thanks for any input you can give....
If you want to hear directions through the speakers along with music just load some MP3's onto a SD card. The music will play and cut out when the unit wants to give directions.
Thanks for the reply, but what if you are listening to the CD player? Can you make it so that it cuts out when the unit gives directions or can you only do that with the SD card? That's why maybe I should look at the Tomtom rider with bluetooth, then you get a headset with it and you don't need to use your speakers....thanks

One thing I have noticed with mine is that it is very rare I even play CD's anymore. I just load up the Garmin and an SD card with MP3's and use it. You might find you do the same as it is much more convenient.
I carry five or six cards so I am never short on tunes. That much music on CD's would nearly require a trailer to tote all of them.
Harley57,
I have to agree with SefferDog, I used to listen to CD's, then I went to MP3 files on CD's, then I got smart and loaded about 900 songs on a 4GB SD card on my 450, an now I almost NEVER listen to CD's any more. Oh, I carry a few CD's with me, but I never find a reason to listen to them with all that music on the Zumo to listen to.
Also, and depending on if your hubby has aftermarket pipes on your scoot, you probably won't be able to hear the voice commands on the Zumo clearly anyway.
If you guys need help with the whole MP3/SD card/Zumo thing, feel free to write us back or search the Forums.

the sd card goes into the zummo zummo plays the misic through the aux input and cuts out the music for voice prompts however i rarley use the voice promts any way glance at the screen evernow and then, if i miss a turn the zummo reroutes and when it does that u end up off the beaten path.
to answer your original question though, yes you could use a wired headset connected directly to the Zumo mount to hear the GPS commands, although due to the fact the 450 does not have BlueTooth, it would have to be WIRED (like and earbud or similar). The other alternative i have seen is a speaker which plugs into your cigarette lighter and then to the zumo mount, which will give you audio, but then you have to worry about hearing that over the motor, wind, AND the bikes radio.
All things being equal, as has been said a few times here, i use mainly MP3s so it doesn't present a problem with directions.
If you are not in a big hurry to get the GPS you might want to wait a little. I noticed on Garmins web site a new model the zumo 660. It is suppose to be out in the next couple of months. One thing I noticed that has me interested is that it has A2DP (stereo Bluetooth) so it will play its built-in mp3 player Stereo to a A2DP Bluetooth headset (or at least it seems so). GPS, Blutooth cell phone compatible, and Stereo Bluetooth audio, this one looks really interesting to me. It has an MSRP 0f $799. I can't wait to check this one out, I hope the street price is much better.
Yeah, thre is a pretty extensive thread on this new Zumo model, and alot over at ZumoForums as well. The 450 they have discontinued, so if you can still find them they are pretty cheap all things considered. There is also some speculation that the 550 will dip in price a bit when the "latest and greatest" comes out.
