I want one I think, does anyone have one, and how to you like it? I have a half helmet and a full face for cold and rain but those modulars look nice. Cheap too I seen them on ebay for 40-50 bucks! Thanks
i think they get too heavy and u cant leave the chin bar up. i like a 3/4 with intergrated face sheild less weight and u can leave the face shield up without too much buffeting
I have Nolan modular with a J&M headset and I like it a bunch. Be aware they are a bit heavier then your full face. I will wear it when it is supposed to rain or when it is really cold out. Otherwise if I am on the highway I wear my HD Carbon Fiber 1/2 helmet.
I've been wearing a cheap modular that had a flip down tinted visor in addition to the clear made by Zamp for the past year and really liked it. Last week the right side pivot point broke. I'm not extremely hard on helmets but like I said it was cheap and you get what you pay for. I'm entertaining buying a better quality modular. The flip down tinted visor was sweet.
I have an HJC Modular.. I really like it. I still wear my 1/2 helmet quite a bit.
more difficult to hear the stereo, but you can...
It obviously warmer in winter & on really hot days, its cooler too.
I've got an HJC modular, but it set me back around $170 from helmetcity.com.
I like the fit but it's noisy and the hinge mechanism tends to make a small rattling sound on occasion.
I've heard a lot of bad about cheap modulars being noisy, not only from wind noise but the mechanical rattling of the hinges which apparently is hard to quiet down.
I wish I'd spent more on mine because of that. I end up using my 3/4 helmet and a neoprene face guard now except for when it falls below 40 degrees or so.
I have a Shoei Multitec and I love it! They ain't cheap though. I have an Arai Quantum F full face that my wife wears, and it is quieter than the modular. Less places for the wind to get in.
I bought a HJC CL Max modular helmet back in September. Its the first "real" helmet I've bought in years.
I usually go helmetless, or wear a novelty skid lid when riding in states that require a helmet. But after I bought the RKC, I figured a full face might be a good idea for long interstate runs, especially in cooler weather.
I really like being able to flip up the front of the helmet at red lights or to talk to my passenger, though they stress you are not supposed to open the helmet while riding.
So, to answer your question...yes I like my modular helmet. I don't wear it all the time, but when I do, it works well.
+1 on HJC. I have their carbon fiber 3/4, and if their modular is of the same high quality, I would recommend it. Wish I would have tried one before spending so much on the Shoei, but live and learn.
