No offense intended here but it seems you contradict yourself. Let's see if we're clear on what you want: you want a motor that revs to the moon and makes buttloads of sub 3K rpm torque, right? Me too. I feel for ya, man but that dream motor doesn't exist unless you go crazy and put a giant killer big cube (120+, big bucks+) monster mill in your scoot.
You say you can't "tell the difference" in 10/10 torque/hp so why not ride your scoot as it is? It,s geared for touring, gets great mileage and it's pretty much bulletproof as it is even though it's a little weak on over-all power. I don't mean this as ridicule or criticism - just asking.
Many dealers will not warranty a SE big bore unless it is done new or with in 60 days of purchase. It is some MOCO law. Some dealers will warranty parts and labor IF you come to thier shop for any repair work. If your on the road SOL.
I don't want a crotch rocket that revs to 10K. I've owned HD for over 30 years I know what they are capable of. Had a 96" shovel, mistake!. a SE BB on evo and a really great trouble free 05 95" EG with 204 cams and heads cleaned up. For the new bike guys HD has made some great change in the Twin Cam motors but the F*** EPA thing has hurt them and trying to stay in limits has IMHO created problems.
What I meant to say (or thought I said) is my FLHX and my style of riding don't get along well. Or what I was use to with my old EG. If I do a BB at dealer there is no warranty so if I'm going to spend $1,600 -1.750+ for BB, SERT for $460, D&D for $700 why not give up the extra $$$ for the 107 kit that will be reliable and do more than I need. Rather than reward my dealer with my business when he won't warranty HIS MOCO parts.
That said, there are a few on here that really do know thier stuff. I have read tons of interesting "facts" and tons great informed discussion and a lot of BS from those chasing 1-2 HP and wasting money hoping to post some magical number
having had three bikes with HQs motors on them 07 SG HQs 103--fast as hell off the line all the way up to 120+ 24,000 miles without one motor problem, 08 RG HQs 107 did not get a chance to test it--totaled the bike with less than 1000 miles on the motor--I had TBW (no way related to the motor build) issues with it by the time I got it worked out the bike had gone to hog heaven.
Now I have 09 RG with HQs 107 have had a chance to fully test it; but I hit hard after 100 miles front wheel off the ground--it is fast strong motor and no TBW issues.
The 09 RG has 112 miles on it as of today--I will continue to evaluate the motor as I go--Planning on a road trip to daytona in March.
Two of the Dealers in Atlanta take new bikes and put HQs motors in them and warranty all of thier work.
There are many good motor builds out there including SE; but for the dollars spent I think aftermarket will give you more for you $$$$.
check out T-man, Gmr, S&S all reliable depends on who you are comfortable with.
+ one for the HQ 107 if it was mine thats what I would do. Define what you want out of the bike and build the motor to what you want it to do is the best advice I can give. My HQ build has tons of tq all the time and is well basicaly fast as hell and scares some people but that is what i was after.
I can tell you my Tman 103 build is just what I wanted and needed. Pulls strong from 2000 hits 100 lb/ft tq at 2800 and climbs until 5000. Yes it cost me more than a SE build but it is strong and reliable.

Call them; they will talk motor with you all day.
I can attest for the quality of HQs motors
I have not called Stone Mountain to discuss the range of HQ options they offer (I am assuming the other dealer is Granite Mtn.). I am guessing the BB kit with heads, cams, pistons, etc. is going to more than I can afford. Do you think they have some cam-only options that may wake things up a bit for my 09 Street Glide?
