I'm tired of the ham can look and want to change to an open element look. Anyone use a K&N 0800 without the ham can. Thinking of doing this and dressing up the face of it with a air cleaner insert mounted right on the filter. Any thing i should be concerned about other that a heavy rain?
I've been running open air cleaners for several years. Never had a prob.
Also, I have the Arlen Ness Stage II open cleaner, chrome backing plate, chrome cover...I'd take $100 plus shipping. Perfect condition.
If you swap to a K&N and ditch the football as mentioned above, do you have to remap or anything? Is it more of an asthetic thing? Also, are there any other parts you have to pick up besides the filter? If someone could tell me exactly what it takes to do this, i.e. what needs to be removed, etc. that would be great
If you are so bothered by this question why answer at all? I use the HD 0800 on my 08UC but with the smooth round cover.
What makes you think I'm bothered by this? Lighten up, Francis, and don't get your panties in a bunch. Making a comment that this has been brought up before (so that he could possibly find several other responses!) isn't something that is a bother, but a comment to help someone out. Please learn the difference.
I've been running an open element for years, no problems at all. I cover it up with tin foil when I wash the bike. I've been caught in heavy heavy downpours with it, and I never had any problems at all.
what will that do to a fuel injected erngine? do you need a download or something? I got an 06 FLHTI thats totally stock. Can i put that on without mods to the computer?
