But I recently ordered new Rush slipons to replace my Rineharts and talked extensively with Keith from Fuel Moto about clamps. The new mufflers should be here tomorrow.
Keith advises that the clamps should be just fine for a 2nd use and that I should use some Ultra Copper by Permatex around the joint to assure a good seal and also make it much easier if I ever need to remove or swap the mufflers. It's available at most automotive stores.
Been there done that with fuelmoto rush slip ons...trust me the muffs will work lose and start to rattle-right side first.
You will notice that the Rush muffs have slots cut into the pipe end that slips over the head pipes....but the slots do not extend to the front end of the inlet pipe....hack saw the slots all the way to the end and the clamps will then be able to actually squeeze the inlet down over the header and will never work lose.
I was to cheap to buy new and the one clamp kept coming loose. So, I took the center spacer off the clamp bolt, reassembled the clamp and now no more problems. I still use the correct torque specs so as not to break the bolt.
