The evo motor in my '98 Superglide was a lot quieter than the tc88 I have now. I just hope it holds up as well. I had 30k on the evo when I sold it. It had a slight lifter tick. Lifters on the evo are known to get weak over time and miles. Although the lifters are now better, the tc88 sounds like a thrashing machine compared to the evo. It was that way from the very start. I figured it was the cam chains and tensioners. I hope it stays together over the long haul. I think they make more noise than they should...but whatja gonah do.

I thought the motor had developed a problem the first time I rode my '04 Wide Glide after I added a windshield, but I soon learned that the shield was just amplifying the motor noise that was already there. I switched to synthetic oil and just ignored the noise for the next 10,000 miles...never had a problem and didn't use any oil. Just the nature of the beast.
