Run good oil, change it religiously and change your tensioners between 15,000 and 20,000. Not a guarantee, but your bike should run fine for quite some time. I've seen guys(fools) go over 60,000 and replace them. I've seen others go out at just over 30,000 and destroy engines. I say check em every 10 and don't let em go much past 20. This is the path of least resistance/expense just so long as you do the work or can get it done other than the dealer.

If you change the cams to gear drive, go ahead and change the lifters -- you'll probably have them out anyway. Call Andrews and discuss your options if the crank runout is out of tolerance. You'll need a good dial indicator, preferably with peacock lever, to check crank runout.
