Question PC-V on 08 ABS Street Glides?

Hi Guys,
I'm looking to do a stage 1 upgrade to my 08 SG. I'd like to know if anyone on here has put the power commander 5 on their bike which has ABS. I heard alot of issues with the PCIII not fitting correctly on the ABS models. I read alot of good things with FuelMoto and their products but am very concerned about this. I don't want to spend the money if I'm gonna have alot of issues with it. My other option is to take it the dealer and have them do the work with the download. All imput on this would be very welcomed. I'm looking for a product to do the stage 1 and ride, I'm not looking to tinker with the settings once its set just do it and go. I'm also not going to do any other motor mods.

FuelMoto supports install of PC-V on 2007 and later last I heard, regardless of what the power commander website says. FM did their own setup and testing for those rides. As for ABS, I don't know as mine doesn't have it.

Has nobody installed one of these on an ABS bike yet? I need info from at leaset one person on how it will fit. Can't seem to get a straight answer if there is a fit problem like on the PCIII

Have you tried contacting FuelMoto? I'm sure they would be able to answer your question. Let us know what you find out.

Jamie is offering the PCV for '08's as a "retrofit" kit, and since the PCV is about 1/2 the size of the PCIII, which had its fitment issues with '08's and ABS, I would think the smaller size of the PCV would make it a much simpler job. Call Jamie and talk to him. He won't BS you.

The advantage of buying from FM over a local dealer is that (1) it is less expensive, (2) Jamie is an expert on these subjects and gives excellent support, and (3) he will install a proper map based on a dyno tune of an exact bike.

On '08's the ABS hardware takes up the entire right side cover and the PCIII/PCV must be installed under the seat, which is a very tight fight that some say requires some minor Dremel work (i.e. hacking). I haven't done it so I can't say anything more, but there are some threads about how to shoehorn a PCIII in. The PCV should be much easier since it has about 1/4 the volume of a PCIII, and might be truly PNP on '08's. Can anyone verify this?

The '09 FLH's reportedly have plenty of room under the seat and there are no fitment problems at all.

The PCV should work on any FLH (Delphi) from '02 up. I won't go any further except to say try it at your own risk, as neither FM nor Dynojet will warrant or support the PCV for anything earlier than '07. Only FM provides support and warranty for '07 and '08. If you install it on a year-model earlier than '07 don't call Jamie when something doesn't work right. You're forging new paths and are on your own, sort of like Lewis and Clark were finding the Northwest Passage, except they didn't have this forum.

Keep in mind that the PCIII and PCV map file formats are different and not compatible with each other, and the PCV software won't load or read PCIII maps. If you transfer map data you'll need to do it manually, and will need to add numbers for the new 15% column on the PCV base-map tables. If I were doing this I would interpolate (average) the values between 10-20% on the old PCIII map, as that's basically the way it looks on my PCV base map.

Of course if you want to add the Auto-Tune kit you won't need to worry about base maps at all. Just zero the base map and let AT create the trims to bring you to the AFR you specify in the PCV's Target AFR table(s). Of course on any bike earlier than '07 you'll need to cut and weld bungs on your exhaust for the O2 sensors provided in the Auto-Tune kit. Big hassle.

I didn't tell y'all this, so if Jamie asks me I'll deny I said it . To cover my own a$$, refer to the part in paragraph one that refers to doing it at your own risk. Also, did I say you're on your own?
