Haven't had that problem yet. What shape were your rubber bushings in. I noticed this winter, when taking my front end apart, that the bushings appeared a little worn, this is with about 4k on the bike. I replaced the rubber bushings at a cost of about 4 bucks and with windshield sems a little snugger. Might have to be an annual thing.
My Road King is 1 month old and you could push the windshied off with one finger. I don't thing it is a wear problem. It is the form of the wire springs.
17 grand for a new bike and a windshield that is held in by Spring Clamps?
UGH!!!!
Wonder if they have rubber bands holding the fairing on my Ultra? [sm=dontgetit.gif]
I don't know about you, but I like being able to take my shield off in 2 seconds. I ride without mine on most of the time anyway. Unless it's an actual road trip.
I will be tightening the springs down, though. Never thought about something like that happening.
Thanks for the response, there is no real good place to hook zip ties to without it looking real bad. The wire clip isnât very good spring steel, it doesnât hold down very well and the angle is wrong. I think I am going to bend up some wire clips with a better angle and better steel. I will post a pic when I am done. $18000.00 for a bike that the windshield blows off. I am just glad it didnât get scratched, I am sure that I would have had to fight with the dealer to try to get it fixed. George
I noticed that the first time I removed my windshield it was alot tighter fit, that it is now after a few times removing. I just re-bent those spring clip and the last time I took the windshield off, it was a tight fit.
But now my windshield has been off for the past month and I see no need to put it back on until fall, or I take a trip. But while cutting the grass a couple days ago, I hit the windshield with the leafblower and put a nice scratch on it......&*%$@......It's out of the line of sight.
But know I got to thinking.............Hello dealer, my windshield blew off at a stop sign and got scratched! [sm=goodidea.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]
I take the windshield off of my '05 Road King time to time, and whenever it goes back on, I ALWAYS bend the spring clips back down before it's back on - I ride all year round (MD), and I have never had it come off, or get loose.
