Around here, you'd have a tough night sleeping with your bike parked outside your motel room. It would definitely be a target for the bicycle riding hoodies patrolling the night with their backpacks and boltcutters. It was never like that when I was a kid. Now its a fact of life. Live anywhere near a big city and the meth heads are out on patrol. Anything they can take off your bike is fair game to them. Too many rats in the cage.
The only problem i have is people keep trying to sit on my bikes. I don't know how many times i pop a blood vessel when i see this. Before i can get to them they usually see how pissed i am and leave. It does help to have my 6 riding friends running towards them with me.
You've got to be kiddin'!!
It would be like someone walkin' up to your wife and feelin' her up, just cause she was there. Rationale for a good azz kickin', but in this foked up narc snitch cell phone society, I spose all you could do would be to scream at em', and give em' the 3rd degree.
I like wit when you park it outside the hotel lobby for the night. Just finish locking up, check in and you see kids with their parents checking in. The kids are interested so I tell the mom and dad they can look but it is hot (just parked about 15mins).
While checking in you hear kids screaming from being burnt....
Other than that nothing missing yet, but it's on the mind every time it's out of my sight
I'll definitley take the Zumo in. I'd like to leave a suitcase and/or duffle on the bike but just can't bring myself to do it. Arm the security, lock the saddles, the forks and front wheel. Tying all the gear down each morning takes time . At least the bike shouldn't go anywhere. Too bad... I wish this wasn't an issue we even had to discuss.
I have travelled all over the U.S. & some parts of Canada for weeks at a time and so far have not had anything stolen. However, I don't take any chances & lock up everything & cover the bike at night. It's a shame we have to do that.
