Just recently I had parked the RG out in front of the local Lowes. Put the helmet in the tour pac and locked it. When I came back, I opened the saddle bag to put some stuff in it and noticed right away that the rear most quick disconnect was laying down on the bottom of it. I had replaced the forward one with a bolt and locking nut. The hardware for the quick disconnect was all still intact. I don't know why I didn't put the bolt on the rear mount point of the saddle bag. It is now though.
I've never had anything taken off my bike that was functional, i did have someone take a picture of my wife and son that i had on the inside of my windshield while on my way back from a week long trip. There really are some a$$holes out there
Crashed my bike in West Virginia 5 years ago, heading home to VA I started to have electrical issues so I stopped and got gas, went in to pay and came out and my helmet, jacket and gloves were gone. Mind you I parked right in front of the cashier, big glass window and poof it was all gone in seconds. So the bike wouldn't start and I had to pay a $200.00 tow bill.
I had a friend that was in the process of trailering his bike down to Florida for bike week when they stopped at a resturant for dinner. After they ate they noticed that someone stole their truck, trailer and bike. The police did recover the truck, but my friend never saw his trailer or bike again. He had well over 30 grand invested in his bike. I've traveled all over the United States on my bike and I've never had a problem.

Had an old CB 650 custom stolen once from a party i was at. The damn crack head in the apartment next door took it . I did get it back a year and a half later after the trial. Never ran the same after that, smoked so I sold it to a buddy of mine that wanted to learn to ride. He ran it for a couple of months bought a vmax and killed himself on it the next week.
A buddy of mine had his seat cut when we were at the fall bike week in MB. We had our bikes setting together in the parking garage of the hotel, and some a$$ came thru and cut the seat on every other bike. About 10 or so bikes got cut.
