It happens to all that ride at one time or another it happens. Took the RoadKing to a cemetary, walked away, turned around and watched it go down. Kinda spooky feeling.

Jeff

What side is the passenger side on a Harley?? That sucks dude, I know it eventually happens to everybody and I dread that day for me. Just by looking at my SG with the monster ovals, I believe the pipes would hit before anything else...ouch.

Happened to me on my last bike...Slow u-turn, front brake, sucked me into the ground.

Hurt my feelings more than it hurt the bike.

I usually only use my disc lock at work or while traveling, so needless to say not always conscious of it being on. Well preoccupied and in a hurry to go on a trip after work, I packed what I needed, prepped for the 200 mi ride ahead of me, pulled the clutch in, shifted her into first and gassed it. Two feet later I'm on my face wondering what the hell just happened? Went down hard too. First reaction - pissed! Duh! Laid her on the crash bar and she just sat there on a 45 degree angle. Luckily no scratches or any damage, or anybody watching! My adrenaline got her back up.
Once was enough right? Not for me. Did the exact same scenario the next trip - the other side though! Double Duh!
Needless to say the reminder chord now goes on with the lock.......
By the way - it really messes with ya for the first few miles afterward.

Sorry to here of your misfortune. You have one sweet ride! Too bad you can't make crash bars sexy huh?

Sears had their bike jack on sale last year, so I bought one. Instructions? We don't need no stinking instructions!

I slid it under the bike and jacked her up a couple of inches. The bike immediately sat upright. Wow, what a great way to clean her, I thought. I then jacked the bike up about 8 inches, and all was well. She seemed stable and I was confident I could work on her with ease.

Here's where my brain went on vacation. I guess I thought I could let her down, and she'd return to upright position. That of course is not what happened. As soon as I let the stand down, the bike fell onto my workbench. Thankfully it just scuffed the fairing a bit. What was embarrasing was that I could not pick her up by myself, and had to call my neighbor over.

Damn - that really sucks! Guess it could have been worse, but it sounds like it was already bad enough. I keep reading about guys dropped their EGCs and UCs and it always seems that there's no damage other than a scuff on the crash bars.

I dropped my '87 Honda Hurricane 'cuz I forgot to remove the disc lock. I dropped my '89 Hurricane when I was washing it and my foot slipped off the center stand while I was washing it. And I watched my brand-spankin' new Buell Ulysses do a slow topple off the jack when I turned back around from reaching for a funnel... (that one hurt the most - I actually dented the aluminum frame/gas tank pretty good).

Luckily (and I'm also banging on all the wood in sight) I have never dropped one of my Harleys.
