I'm really into history and historical towns so I was truly in my element, but the ride from St. Augustine up A1A along the beautiful coastline all the way to Daytona was absolutely fantastic!! It's a MUST. As someone else suggested, you HAVE to ride The Loop. Go to the official Daytona Bike week website and they will show you where the loop is. Daytona itself during bike week is EXTREMELY crowded and you just can't take all those crowds for very long so you just have to get away from time to time. We had a wonderful time. Oh yeah, Destination Daytona is a must do.

And if you stop in traffic and someone takes your pic and gives you a slip of paper, take it home, look up the pic on the web page on the piece of paper and buy a photo like the one we have. Great souvenir of a good time!
Rhonda,
Is that an '05 model Heritage you're on?
Torquoise/Sand color?
That's the Heritage I had...wish I still had it.
Yall still have yours?
Wanna sell it?

Crowded, got to pay attention while riding, but at least have a half *** idea on what you want to do,, otherwise you'll spend alot of time just trying to figure out where the hell you're at.....but thousands of "differant things" to do have a blast

Thanks guys! Gives me a lot of ideas to look into. This will be my first "big" show so I'm really looking forward to it. Definately want to ride down the coast for a bit. Can't wait...counting down the days. Thanks again!

Overnighter? Sure, if you leave first thing in the morning, you may get there by sunset, and then reverse the process the next day. That's assuming your ride down on the Turnpike to Homestead, FL and then get back on US1 for the rest of the ride down. It's not exactly an interesting ride, either.

Key West is about 415 miles from Daytona Beach. Once you get onto US1 for the ride through the keys, you're essentially at the mercy of traffic in front of you. If you have the unfortunate case that I did (death on the highway), then you get blocked where you are until they clear the road. I got lucky that I was blocked near a decent restaurant in time for dinner.

Key West is a nice place to visit, but an overnighter from Daytona, in my opinion, doesn't give you much time to enjoy it. If you do it for the ride, also my opinion, it's just not that interesting of a ride. Better to head down for a couple of days before or after your Daytona stay.
