I leave the weight on the jack when it sits overnight. I DO throw the locks in place but don't lower onto the locks.
I can readily see where the jack could weep out from under the crossbar. I'm going to play around with this at some point, and see where the jack can slip out from crossbar. Hey CFM... how old is your jack?
I would imagine that everybody else thinks we are idiots for leaving our bikes unattended and unstrapped on our jacks. I really LOVE my J&S jack.
