I have a 2004 Roadie and have been looking for a set of these. So far my search has been unsuccessful. I find them for the '09's and prior to '03 but nothing for the 2004-2008 models. Does anyone have a part number I should be looking for? I suppose I could go to the dealer to get the part numbers but I thought I'd ask here first.
Thanks for the reply and I may be interested but my primary concern is fitment. I don't want to waste the time spending the coin if they ain't gonna fit...
I may be back to you on the sale of what you have.
jcain, looks like the HD made a mistake in the paper catalog regarding fitment since the black guards are listed as fitting your bike, but the same thing in chrome doesn't list your bike for fitment: 4658-03 (is the black) and 49291-07 (is the chrome). Also, the comfort profile guard is listed as fitting your bike: 49087-01. Heck, even one of the pics shows the chrome guard on an RG, though I'm not familiar enough with the striping on RG's to i.d. the model year!!!
Try contacting HD Customer Service and getting someone who knows what they are talking about to resolve this apparent contradiction between the black fitting, but chrome not fitting.
Also, everything in the paper catalog is on HD's website.
The rails from any near-year touring bike will fit, the frames are the same and have the same pre-existing bolt-holes -- you just need to replace the whole shebang; you cannot merely 'add' crash guards and rails to your existing RG 'under the bag' support rail.
I replaced my bag support rail with the guard/rail set from an UG on my `05 RG, `cause I wanted the rear crash guards.
Thanks for the info. I had a sneaking suspicion they were all the same or close. I called one of my local $tealers today at lunch and they said said the same thing you did.
I was thinking about the squared off classic guards for my 08 RG. I thought the lower profile might not conflict with the stripe. I would really like to not have the swoosh but they don't offer that option on the standard RG.
