Starter issues 06 FLHX
Changed my comp gear to a 24T and progressively have acquired a starter problem? It seems to grind and fall off when turning over. I have compression releases so I am not sure what is going on. Is there a drive with a heaver spring or something like that? I Checked for bad ground and all wiring and contact areas are good?

Could this be the cause? The only thing I found was this concerning bad contact? I took the starter out and apart and absoultly no visable damage to any of the multiple gearing?

Took the starter to my friends over at Dispatch Automotive and had them go through the starter. I told them that I found no visible damage when I did it. They took the whole thing apart put it through a few testes and found nothing as well.
I am betting the picture posted is the cause, I will continue to update since there is so much interest!

Tony it sounds like the starter clutch is going out. Not something a bench test will find but a common problem. Not sure what the picture is showing other than maybe that the starter was loose and moving around on the case, which on an '06 would cause a bad ground.
