Default Need a labor estimate for cam swap

Hi All,

I'm thinking about a cam swap in my future. Can anyone tell me the approximate labor charge or hours required for this?

Thanks

I was quoted $400 just to have the tensioners replaced. This was from an indy.

I would think a good mechanic should be able to complete in 4-6 hours.

Right around 4 hours sounds right. On the newer bikes there are no bearings to press on, so it makes it that much easier.

I did one last year for a guy in just under 4 hours, but his exhaust was already off so that made it go faster.

Dropped mine off yesterday for this very reason. I'm using adjustable pushrods and was told that it would be 3 to 3 1/2 hours labor. I hope that's true!

I think everyone has it nailed, if you use the adjustable pushrods so they don't have to take the heads/rocker boxes off, its 4-5 hour job.
